About Us

Dr. Balaji Sampath is a distinguished educationist, scientist, and social entrepreneur dedicated to transforming education in India.

Founder and CEO of AID India, Dr. Sampath has built one of India's most impactful educational non-profits. Under his leadership, AID India has assembled a remarkable team of 400 full-time activists, 3,000 village teachers, and 2,000 volunteers who have transformed education for over 1 million children across 2,000 villages and 8,000 schools in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu. The organization stands out in the non-profit sector for its strong focus on measurable outcomes and systematic impact assessment.

His flagship program, Eureka Child, has sparked curiosity and learning excitement in over 100,000 children across 1,030 villages in Tamil Nadu and 100 villages in Bihar. The program employs a unique community-driven model where donors and parents support local youth who are trained to become high-quality tutors. The Eureka methodology has been adopted by schools, NGOs, government organizations, and agencies like UNICEF to improve teaching outcomes nationwide.

As Founder Trustee of Eureka Books, Dr. Sampath has democratized access to quality educational content by publishing nearly 350 titles that have reached over 800,000 children with high-quality, affordable books and learning kits. He has also created 175 science demonstration experiments that were televised to reach even broader audiences.

In 2011, he founded AhaGuru, an innovative online physics education portal that uses interactive videos and quizzes to enhance conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills for high school students. This platform covers physics, chemistry, and mathematics for classes 7-12, including preparation for CBSE, NEET, and JEE examinations.

Dr. Sampath's exceptional contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the IIT Madras Distinguished Alumnus Award 2012, Times of India Social Impact Award presented by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2011, Ashoka Fellowship for innovative work in Science Education, MIT Indus Technovator's Award 2005, and the Pratham USA Achievement Award 2006.

His work represents a remarkable journey from academic excellence to grassroots impact, demonstrating how technical expertise can be channeled to create lasting social change and educational transformation across rural India.
